Hungary Consumer Price Inflation Eases In August

Friday, Hungary's Central Statistical Office said the consumer price index or CPI rose 5% year-over-year in August, slower than the 5.1% increase in the preceding month.

On a monthly basis, the CPI was down 0.3% in August, after a 1.3% rise recorded in the previous month.

The seasonally adjusted core inflation was 5.1% annually in August , and stood at 0.2% compared to the preceding month.

For the first eight months of the year, consumer prices increased 3.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Meanwhile, the harmonized index of consumer prices or HICP climbed 5% year-on-year in August. The HICP was down 0.3% compared to the prior month.
