Greece Import Prices Decline In July

Friday, the General Secretariat of the National Statistical Service of Greece announced that the import price index decreased 6.4% year-on-year in July, compared to the 12.4% growth in a year ago.

Intermediate goods prices fell 2.1% on an annual basis in July, while capital goods prices grew 0.7%.At the same time, energy prices fell 20%. On a monthly basis, import prices fell 0.5% in July, in contrast to a 1.2% increase in a year earlier.

The annual average rate of import prices decreased 0.8% in the twelve-month period of August 2008 to July 2009.
