Wednesday, the French statistical office announced that the consumer spending on manufactured goods decreased 1% month-on-month in August, compared to the 1.2% fall in the previous month.Consumer spending declined for the second month, after rising 1.5% in June. Economists expected an increase of 0.3% for August.
In August, consumer spending in durable goods fell 0.7%, compared to the 1.7% decline in the previous month. Consumer spending on textile goods dropped 3.8% versus 3% fall in July. Spending on other manufactured goods fell 0.2%, after falling 0.1% in July.
On an annual basis, consumer spending on manufactured goods fell 1.3% in August, after declining 0.5% in July.
