Turnover in the Finnish manufacturing sector dropped 30.1% year-on-year in the April to June period, Statistics Finland said Tuesday.
Domestic sales contracted 27.8% and export turnover dropped 32% from a year ago.
In the April to June period, turnover dropped across all major industry groups. The decline in turnover was steepest in the chemical industry, down 36.4% on year, and in the metal industry, down more than 33%.
Separately, the statistical agency said services turnover fell 7.4% from a year ago. In the three-month period that ended in March, services turnover was down 5.1% on-year. Services turnover declined for the second quarter in a row.
The decrease in services turnover was driven by the transportation & storage industry, which showed a decline of 17.7% in the April to June period. On the other hand, real estate activities recorded the biggest rise, with turnover up 5.1% on year.
Construction turnover slid 19.2% year-on-year in the April to June period, the agency said in a separate report. For the month of June alone, construction turnover contracted 14.8% on year, after falling 22.4% in May.
