Eurozone July Jobless Rate Rises

Tuesday, Eurostat said in a report that Eurozone jobless rate stood at 9.5% in July, up from 9.4% in the previous month. This was the highest jobless rate since May 1999. The jobless rate came in line with economists' expectations. A year ago, the jobless rate was 7.5%.

In July, the number of unemployed persons increased to 15.090 million from 14.923 million in June. Compared to the previous year, unemployment rose by 3.264 million.
