Monday, the Czech Statistical Office announced that the trade surplus stood at CZK 12.3 billion in July, down from CZK 20.4 billion surplus in the previous month. Economists' expected a surplus of CZK 11 billion. A year ago, the trade surplus was CZK 6.6 billion.
Exports decreased 17.9% year-on-year to CZK 169.53 billion in July, while imports dropped 21.3% to CZK 157.28 billion.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, exports increased 0.5% month-on-month in July, while imports fell 1.4%.
For the January to July period compared to the previous year, exports and imports dropped by 19.1% and 21.3%, respectively. During the period, the trade surplus totaled CZK 89.4 billion.
