Crude oil finished below $70 per barrel on Monday amid worries over the outlook of energy demand. The daily loss was the third straight.
Light sweet crude for October delivery fell to $69.71 per barrel, down $2.33 on the session. Prices hit as low as $68.96 earlier in the day.
Oil finished below $70 for the first time of the week and gave back some of last week's 4% gains.
Traders will also look forward to the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision, which will be announced on Wednesday at the conclusion of a two-day policy meeting. Rates are widely expected to remain near zero.
Also on Wednesday, the Energy Information Administration's inventory data is expected. Last week's report showed crude oil supplies decreased by 4.7 million barrels last week.
Leaders of group of 20 member nations will meet in Pittsburgh on Thursday and Friday.
The leading indicators index came in at 0.6% for the month of August. A rise of 0.7% was forecast, compared to a 0.6% increase in July.
