New Zealanders expressed more confidence that the economy is recovering from the recession, reports said Monday citing a survey by the UMR Research.
The survey found that in late August, of the 750 persons surveyed, 61% of the respondents were concerned about the impact of the recession on the economy compared to 72% in the June survey. This is the lowest level of concern since October last year.
Further, the proportion of people concerned about the impact of the crisis on the standard of living dropped to 48% from 54% in the June survey, the lowest level in ten months.
About 36% of respondents said the worst of the recession was over, but at the same time 51% noted that the worst was not over as yet. Moreover, 48% of respondents expressed concern about their job security.
The survey noted that the situation is fragile and the results must be treated with caution.
