Friday, Brazil's statistical office IBGE announced that the gross domestic product or GDP increased 1.9% sequentially in the second quarter. Economists expected the GDP to increase 1.4%.
On an annual basis, the GDP fell 1.2% in the second quarter, compared to the 1.4% decline expected by economists.
In the first half of the year, the GDP dropped 1.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
On September 10, the statistical office had reported the National Consumer Price Index or IPCA inflation slowed to 0.15% in August from the 0.24% growth in the previous month.
