Average weekly wages in Australia increased in the second quarter of 2009 by a seasonally adjusted 1.2 percent over the preceding quarter, according to data published Thursday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Wages for the full year increased a seasonally adjusted 6.1 percent.
The figures represent earnings for full-time adult ordinary time workers.
The Bureau's trend estimate for regular full-time earnings, which further smooth the seasonally adjusted data, showed a 1.3 percent increase for the three months to May and 5.9 percent for the year.
The trend estimates show full time adult total earnings for the year to May 2009 as rising 5.6 percent for males and 5.0 percent for females.
