Australia is scheduled to release new motor vehicle sales for August on Monday, setting the pace for a light day in Asian economic news. Auto sales were down 6.9 percent on month in July and 10.4 percent on year.
New Zealand will provide August figures for visitor arrivals and credit card spending. Arrivals were up 3.9 percent in the previous month, while credit card spending eased an annual 2 percent.
Finally, several of the regional bourses are closed on holiday. The Japanese markets are off for Respect for the Aged Day, while Malaysia and Singapore are closed in observance of Hari Raya Puasa and Indonesia remains off for the Ied Fitr 1 Syawal holiday.
