Hungary June Trade Surplus Widens

Thursday, Hungary's Central Statistical Office announced that the trade surplus stood at EUR 549 million in June, up from EUR 478.9 million in May. Economists had expected a surplus of EUR 518 million. A year earlier, the trade surplus was EUR 30.8 million.

Exports dropped 21% year-on-year to EUR 5.11 billion in June, while imports fell 29% to EUR 4.56 billion.

For the January to June period, the trade surplus amounted to EUR 2.08 billion, up from EUR 331.6 million in a year ago. During the period, exports and imports decreased by 26% and 30%, respectively.
