Wednesday, Hungary's Central Statistical Office announced that the average gross monthly earnings of full time employees increased 1.1% year-over-year in June, slower than the 2.9% growth in the previous month. Economists were looking for a decline of 2%.
For the January to June period , the average gross monthly earnings increased 1.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.
During the period, real earnings fell 2.2%. The private sector real earnings increased 0.4% while it fell 8.4% in budgetary institutions.
Meanwhile, the average net monthly earnings grew 0.9% annually in June, slowing from 2.1% growth in the preceding month. For the first half of the year, net monthly earnings increased 1% compared to the same period of the previous year.
