Hungary Consumer Price Inflation Rises In July

Tuesday, Hungary's Central Statistical Office said the consumer price index or CPI rose 5.1% year-over-year in July, faster than the 3.7% increase in the preceding month. Economists had expected an increase of 6.1%.

On a monthly basis, the CPI was up 1.3% in July, after a 0.1% rise in the preceding month.

The seasonally adjusted core inflation was 5.2% annually in July , and stood at 2.3% compared to the preceding month.

For the first seven months of the year, consumer prices increased 3.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Meanwhile, the harmonized index of consumer prices or HICP climbed 4.9% year-on-year in July. The HICP was up 1.4% on month.
