Dutch May-July Jobless Rate Rises

Thursday, the Netherlands' Central Bureau of Statistics said in a report that the jobless rate stood at 4.9% in the May to July period, up from 4.8% in the April to June period. This was the highest jobless rate since May to July 2007. A year earlier, the rate was 4%.

At the same time, the number of unemployed persons increased to 386,000 from 373,000 in the preceding three months.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the number of of unemployed persons totaled 371,000, unchanged from the previous month.
