Cyprus Consumer Prices Decline In July

Thursday, the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus announced that the consumer price index or CPI dropped 0.8% year-over-year in July, in contrast to the 0.2% increase in the previous month. This was the first annual decline in CPI since October 1986. A year earlier, the CPI was up 5.6%.

On a monthly basis, the CPI dropped 1.6% in July, compared with a 0.14% fall in the preceding month.

For the January to July period, the CPI increased 0.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
