Belgium Consumer Confidence Highest Since Sept. 2008

Thursday, the National Bank of Belgium said in a report that the consumer confidence indicator stood at minus 11 in August, up from minus 17 in July. This was the highest level since September 2008. A year ago, the index was minus 11.

The measure for households' saving capacity over the next twelve months increased to 5 in August from 2 in the previous month. Meanwhile, the financial situation indicator climbed to 1 from minus 2 in June.

Further, the gauge for economic situation in Belgium over the next twelve months stood at 7 in August, up from minus 4 in July. At the same time, the measure for unemployment stood at 57, down from 65 in July.
