Austria's Consumer Prices Fall For Second Month In July

Austria's consumer price index fell 0.3% year-on-year in July after falling 0.1% in June, the Statistics Austria said Friday. That was the lowest figure since August 1966. On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 0.3%.

The statistical office said the recent falling inflation rates were mainly caused by fuel- and heating oil prices lying about 25% below the price level of the previous year. Excluding these items, consumer prices rose 1.3%.

The harmonized index of consumer prices were down 0.4% year-on-year in July following a 0.3% decline in June. The HICP also fell 0.4% on a monthly basis.
